It’s been too long…
Working two jobs (usability specialist by day, professional photographer by night/weekends) and a beautiful, 16-month old daughter have kept me very busy. So busy, that flying and blogging about flying have been quite infrequent.
Back in April I completed a thorough Instrument Proficiency Check with my flight instructor. It was a great experience because it demonstrated how quickly your IFR skills can get rusty.
I’ve also been busy cycling and have started commuting 1-2 days by bicycle to work to save gas, improve fitness and help the environment while I’m at it.
Don’t get me wrong. Flying is never far from my mind. As a pilot, I long to be in the air almost constantly. When an airplane flies over, my eyes are skyward…wishing I was in the cockpit.
Soon, I hope to get some flying in to quench the growing thirst for being in that big, blue sky. I’m hoping for a nice, marginal VFR morning with a scattered cloud deck and a smooth ride.

Look at the bright side … with the cost of fuel flying isn’t getting any cheaper, so your spending fewer dollars that could start a college fund? Nevertheless, you do need to keep your proficiency up … speaking as someone who is ‘building’ and unfortunately ‘not’ flying.

I still enjoy your blog … so keep it up.
